Hello,
My name is Rick Robb, and I am running for State Senate, District S.
I have lived in Bethel since 1988, where I have built my home, raised my family, and dedicated my career to helping others. I have a long-standing commitment to the people and communities across our region.
I have a career helping people in Behavioral Health. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and bring over 30 years of experience developing and implementing programs that help people in need. I have worked for Bethel Community Services, YKHC, and now the Bethel Family Clinic. This work reflects my ongoing commitment to helping others.
I have experience as a public servant. I served on the Bethel City Council from 2009 to 2018 and was mayor for 4 of those years. I served on the Alaska Municipal League Board of Directors, and past President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. I served on several city committees and commissions. As a public servant, I have always put the needs of the people I serve as the priority.
We have a huge geographic area in District S. Our district stretches from the Middle Kuskokwim to the Aleutian Islands. We are home to about 35,000 people in numerous communities and different geographic areas.
As a district, we face many challenges as well as opportunities. We need effective representation and leadership in Juneau to meet our challenges and opportunities. We need a state senator that will represent the interest of the people here. I believe I am that person.
In the coming weeks and months, I will be offering more about myself and my ideas and hope you will get to know me better. I believe in listening to people about their concerns and what I can do to help. I hope you will consider me as we move forward in this campaign.
We must support our schools. Our children are our future. We need to develop long range plans for school construction and maintenance.
Provide adequate law enforcement in our rural communities. Keep our communities safe.
I will work for the people or our region, not a party or party elite
Decisions made on science. Protect subsistence. Responsible, sustainable commercial fishing
I oppose a statewide sales tax. With our high cost of living, this would disproportionally hurt us. It would also compete with revenue for many of our local governments.
Protect subsistence rights. Access to public lands for subsistence. Promote regulations that incorporate traditional values and seasons
Protect personal freedoms from government overreach. Strong advocate for Second Amendment Rights.
Support and promote alternative energy project. Protect Power Cost Equalization (PCE) Funding
Promote responsible resource development in rural Alaska.
Promote increase focus on protecting the most vulnerable in our communities. Advocate funding to combat this crisis.
Allow local governments and school districts ability to amend the workforce based on need. Current law restricts this ability and imposes costly termination studies and penalties.
Have questions or suggestions? I would love to hear from you!
